In this role, you will work at the intersection of scientific innovation and advanced analytics, translating complex biomedical questions into practical artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions that support breakthrough research. As part of the AI for Research team, you will collaborate with scientists, domain experts, and cross-functional partners to accelerate discovery, strengthen scientific rigor, and bring meaningful innovation closer to patients.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Translate complex biomedical questions into scalable artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions
- Collaborate with researchers and domain experts to deliver impactful insights for drug discovery
- Ensure robust model development, validation, and performance across diverse scientific use cases
- Partner with engineering and product teams to deploy and scale artificial intelligence solutions
- Act as liaison between AI for Research and Biomedical Research stakeholders
- Identify high-impact research problems and design data-driven solutions to address them
- Communicate model outcomes, insights, and impact clearly to scientific and leadership audiences
- Co-create and foster cross-functional collaborations to advance artificial intelligence innovation
- Develop meaningful evaluation metrics aligned with real-world scientific and therapeutic impact
- Promote adoption of artificial intelligence methodologies across Biomedical Research teams
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to scientific or biomedical problems
- Expertise in drug discovery domains such as target identification, computational chemistry, or translational medicine
- Strong experience developing, validating, and deploying machine learning models in research environments
- Ability to translate complex research questions into scalable data science solutions
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills across cross-functional scientific teams
- Proven ability to work effectively in complex, matrixed organizations with strong ownership and execution focus
Desirable Requirements
- Experience using Python, R, or Structured Query Language for advanced scientific data analysis
- Familiarity with emerging artificial intelligence methods such as generative artificial intelligence or deep learning
Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary
The salary for this position is expected to range between 1,38,600.00 - 2,57,400.00 USD Annual.
The final salary offered is determined based on factors such as relevant skills and experience and will be reviewed periodically upon joining Novartis. Novartis may update the published salary range based on company and market factors.
Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility for annual equity awards.
