Mukul Mehta

Mukul Mehta was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Novartis on March 16, 2026, after more than 20 years working across financial functions and geographies at Novartis.  

As CFO, Mukul shapes and executes the company’s financial strategy, with a sharp focus on capital allocation, operational excellence and long‑term value creation. He oversees enterprise‑wide financial operations and leads investment across next‑generation medicines, data and AI capabilities -advancing the company’s ambition to reimagine medicine and deliver value for patients, shareholders and society.

Since joining Novartis in 2003, Mukul has served in wide‑ranging and impactful roles across Commercial, Development, Business Services and Corporate Finance organizations. Prior to assuming the CFO role, he was Head of Business Planning & Analysis, Digital Finance and Tax, where he advanced integrated performance management and accelerated the adoption of data, automation, and digital tools across Finance. Before joining Novartis, Mukul worked in India’s heavy engineering and banking sectors, gaining both industrial depth and financial experience in his early career. 

As CFO, Mukul positions Finance as both a steward of capital and a strategic partner in reimagining medicine. He champions talent development, transparency, accountability, and data‑driven insights to enable breakthrough innovation, optimize investment decisions and reinforce a culture of high performance.

My vision centers on developing talent for the future of Finance and reimagining how the organization operates. We want to further foster a culture of accountability, strengthen our financial rigor, and ensure that strategic investments are disciplined, future‑focused and value‑creating.

Mukul holds an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from PEC Chandigarh, India. He is married and has two children.
