Summary

In this key and influential role, you will be responsible for overseeing the portfolio management process. With your background, you will provide strategic portfolio management technology and tools, oversee project planning methods from pre-clinical through clinical execution, including the transition to product launch functions, by monitoring investments, return on capital, risk profile and resources requirements. About the Role

Key accountabilities:

  • Design and implement business processes to enable product research and development portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and risk management for the assigned area and/or sub franchise.
  • Provide product portfolio analyses and reports to management committees for support of decision-making.
  • Lead teams in strategy efforts, lifecycle management planning, development of external academic partnering / early strategic partnerships and assessments of probability-of-success.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of strategic plans for the early projects (from Project Start to Portfolio Entry), supporting strategic and scientific decision-making by guiding early project teams and project team leaders.
  • Develop systems to support dynamic portfolio management.
  • Drive the development and oversight of academic partnering strategy.
  • Serve a key and impactful role in portfolio evaluation process.
  • Drive initiatives across functions, research and development units to create fully integrated strategies.
  • Monitor and report on portfolio status and proactively address and resolve issues.
  • Make final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensure operations effective achievement of objectives.

Essential Requirements:

  • PhD, MD or equivalent in relevant scientific field.
  • Minimum 5 years of biotech/pharma industry research experience or equivalent.
  • Experience working in global, cross-functional teams and demonstrated experience with broad collaboration across broad, global teams.
  • Strategic Management/Project Management, to include Executive Presentations/Communications
  • Experience in Operations Management and Execution.
  • Strong background with Critical Negotiations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in neurological or neuromuscular disease areas preferred.

The salary for this position is expected to range between $185,500.00 - 344,500.00 USD Annual USD per year.

The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
