Intern - AI

Major accountabilities:

• AI Agent & Automation Development

  • Design, build, and deploy custom AI agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio, including semantic indexing for context‑aware information retrieval.
  • Develop intelligent automation workflows using Power Automate Desktop with Generative AI to process unstructured data (e.g. PDFs, emails, images).

• Hackathon Technical Consulting & Enablement

  • Act as a solution architect and technical advisor for hackathon teams, supporting conversational design, intent definition, and entity extraction.
  • Rapidly prototype AI solutions and MVPs, helping teams turn concepts into functional, secure, and scalable solutions.

• Data Engineering & RAG Implementation

  • Build and maintain data pipelines using Python (Pandas/PySpark) and SQL in Azure Databricks.
  • Enable “Chat with Your Data” capabilities by integrating Databricks data with Microsoft Copilot Studio using RAG patterns.
  • Ensure data quality, fairness, transparency, and privacy in line with Novartis Responsible AI principles.

• Application & Experience Development

  • Develop custom applications using Microsoft Power Apps (Canvas and Model‑Driven), ensuring strong usability, accessibility, and branding.
  • Embed AI capabilities (Copilot controls, AI Builder models such as OCR) directly into business applications.
  • Create intuitive user experiences that allow associates to interact seamlessly with AI solutions.

• Integration, Analytics & Governance

  • Integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems including SharePoint, Dataverse, SQL, and M365 via connectors and APIs.
  • Develop Power BI dashboards to track hackathon metrics and project outcomes for leadership and steering committees.
  • Document architectures and ensure compliance with IT security, governance, and data privacy frameworks.

• Knowledge Sharing, Community & Innovation

  • Create reusable documentation, how‑to guides, tutorials, and templates to support self‑service learning.
  • Support community engagement through Viva Engage by sharing tips, moderating discussions, and answering technical queries.
  • Research and prototype emerging AI capabilities (e.g. Agentic AI) and provide recommendations to IT leadership.
  • Collaborate closely across data, AI, and experience teams to ensure seamless end‑to‑end solution delivery.

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Data Science / AI / Software/ IT Engineering / Statistics / Mathematics / Multimedia Computing or a related field; must be in the 3rd year of study.
• Proficiency in Python (scripting, data manipulation) and SQL, with exposure to cloud or data platforms such as Azure Databricks.
• Hands‑on experience or strong interest in AI technologies such as LLMs, chatbots, RAG concepts, embeddings, or Microsoft Copilot Studio.
• Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps), with experience in app integration, automation, or data visualization (Power BI).
• Understanding of UI/UX principles and application design; knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and improve data quality and processes.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, collaborating with team members to develop innovative solutions
• Creative thinking, eagerness to learn new technologies and frameworks, and a proactive mindset to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong interest in participating in meetings and contribute ideas.

• Good written and spoken English.
