Seeking novel therapies against a range of respiratory diseases

At Novartis, our focus is on improving the lives of the hundreds of millions of people living with respiratory diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and severe allergic asthma.

Novartis Respiratory Focus Areas

Severe Allergic Asthma

Severe allergic asthma is a specific form of asthma that requires specialist care and support. Patients with severe asthma may have breathing difficulties and are at risk of serious exacerbations - coughing, wheezing, chest tightness and breathlessness - that require hospital treatment.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

COPD is a progressive lung disease characterized by airflow limitation in the lungs that interferes with normal breathing. Patients over time experience exercise limitations that make daily activities increasingly difficult.

Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis is a rare, chronic, recessively inherited, life-threatening disease affecting the respiratory tract, in which thick mucus in the lungs prevents normal breathing, leading to infections and loss of the lungs’ ability to function.
