Summary

We are seeking a Milling Specialist/Expert to help us to reimagine medicine to improve and extend people’s lives. In this role, you will be responsible for contributes to all activities under the responsibility and/or accountability of PHAD Materials Science for assigned projects. This role will work directly with the materials science team.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Contributes to all activities under the responsibility and/or accountability of PHAD Materials Science for assigned projects.

• Performs scientific experiments to support the appropriate selection, development, and characterization of solid forms of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) during early and late phase product development.

• Performs scientific experiments to support the development of robust manufacturing processes for the timely delivery of drug substances (DS) aligned with drug product needs, pharmaceutical intermediates (PI) and drug products (DP).

• Performs analytical analysis for liquid, semisolid and solid DS and DP products. Provides scientific data that contributes to bridging the interface between DS and DP during pre-clinical, clinical, and commercial development, whilst embracing new technologies and modeling solutions.

• Ensures oversight of all laboratory activities within own area of responsibility. Provides practical laboratory support under the guidance of MatSci Expert/Functional Lead for all Materials Science create and supply activities in the area of milling (dry and wet) for the preparation of DS and PI, and the associated analytical characterizations for the aforementioned.

• Acts as a single point of contact for experimental execution for assigned projects, supports all relevant associated internally and externally running activities, including the cross-functional alignment of timelines, activities, and deliverables.

• Supports the transfer activities and the subsequent GMP manufacturing at selected development and/or commercial site.

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor’s (with 10+ y work exp.) / Master’s degree (with 8+ y work exp.) in chemical / food / mining engineering or equivalent experience. Having process scaling up experience is a plus.

• Practical laboratory experience in milling (dry and/or wet) process development.

• Technical R&D experience in early and late phase DS and DP development laboratory activities and requirements (especially small-scale experimentation, quality, regulatory including QbD and specification setting). Ability to bring drug product perspective into project laboratory activities and application of knowledge of cross-functional development activities (DS, DP, etc.).

• Proven track record to successfully lead and perform laboratory experimental execution both internally and at external partners, through coordinating interfacial internal and external activities and stakeholders. Deploys experience in supporting teams in a matrix environment.

• Special focus on milling (dry and/or wet) process development, the interface between DS and DP R&D, including powder characterization, and working under high time pressure. Responsible for the set up and execution of experimental activities mainly in the field of milling. 

• Good oral and written English presentation skill.
