About the Role:

The Sourcing Manager, R&D Services is responsible for implementing procurement projects to achieve key productivity targets. You will be working closely with Category and Procurement partners to align business requirements, optimize sourcing strategies, and handle supplier relationships.

The role focuses on R&D Services related to Advanced Modalities, including Biologics DS Manufacturing and Bioprocess Materials & Services.

The Sourcing Manager ensures operational excellence, financial productivity, risk mitigation, and supplier market intelligence.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide day-to-day Procurement services, including defining negotiation strategies, obtaining approvals, and maintaining strong communication with global category teams.
- Support sourcing execution and negotiation, acting as a partner concern point and ensuring compliance with category strategies and preferred supplier agreements.
- Contribute to overall savings opportunity identification and delivery.
- Manage demand by balancing business needs and Novartis' strategy, collaborating with partners to identify cost-effective ways to achieve business objectives.
- Planning and achievement of productivity targets, overall value proposition, and priorities agreed with the business and procurement collaborators.
- Increase Procurement effectiveness through productivity and process improvements.
- Cash flow contribution through extending payment terms with major suppliers.
- Provide overall insight from a Divisional and/or Functional perspective.
- Ensure alignment between category activity and requirements.
- Financial impact in terms of savings generation.

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements:

- University/Advanced degree in a scientific field (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmacy)
- More than 2 years of Procurement and contracting experience.
- Solid experience in navigating global, matrix organizations across geographies and cultures.
- Extensive experience in sourcing processes, negotiation strategies, project management, communication, collaboration, and market analysis.
- Excellent spoken and written English.

Desirable Requirements:

- Procurement-related qualification (e.g., CIPS, mCIPS, or business degree) would be beneficial.
- Subject matter expertise in one or several of the following categories highly desired:
* Drug Substance Manufacturing - Biologics
* Cell Line Procurement and Licensing
* Advanced Modalities (RLT, ADC, etc.)
* Handling IP-related product manufacturing/sourcing (Media powders, Resins, etc.)
* Bioprocess Materials and Services
