About the Role:

The Strategic Materials Lifecycle Manager identifies technical opportunities and executes material and supplier strategy with an aim to maximize the material value throughout the value chain (from supplier to site).

The role will liaise with procurement for supplier strategy, execution and onboarding/exit programs and strongly collaborate with different functions (Development, Quality, Procurement MS&T, Supply Chain, Product strategy, ERC, Product & Project management), platform and sites to drive the execution of the projects.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Defines Long term material / supplier strategy (across platforms)
  • Prepares material 5-year cost roadmap
  • Proactive assessment of new ways of working, involving innovative scientific & technical solutions by identifying and onboarding the right suppliers.
  • Responsible for centralizing, documenting and maintaining leading edge technologies / products & services knowledge base for assigned categories.
  • Act as SPoC of cost optimization program (PPV) in overall Competitiveness Program
  • Actively collaborates in project execution, following defined material strategy (from supplier to site)
  • Actively collaborates in dual sourcing activities and new supplier approvals end-to-end
  • Actively collaborates in Material standardization and Regulatory relevant changes
  • Actively collaborates in escalations for most critical material supplies by preparing/revising technical evaluations of alternatives for business-critical materials
  • Manage activities needed to deliver overall efficiency and productivity targets
  • Organizes technical review meetings related to materials/suppliers where key stakeholders and technical experts discuss common opportunities, possible barriers to cooperation, required activities and resources, and exchange market strategies and trends.
  • Analyzing specifications for optimization. Linking specification to customer value, challenging specification confidently. Conveying messages clearly and convincing stakeholders.​

Essential Requirements:

  • Graduate in sciences – biochemical, chemical or pharmaceutical sciences with higher level degree (MBA, PhD) or similar MBA required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant business experience in large corporate organizations
  • Technical operations, development, product life cycle management, cross-functional leadership, and new supplier qualification skills are a plus
  • Excellent spoken and written English. German and/or French will be a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Previous experience and strong mindset in continuous improvement and change management with a focus in the Direct materials domain.
  • Expertise in organizational dynamics and culture, ability to gain trust and confidence at all levels in the organization, leadership and project management experience Needs to be able to work independently and reliably without much direction and guidance.
