The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) acts as a scientific ambassador, enabling high-quality, peer-to-peer scientific exchange with Healthcare Professionals and Medical Experts. The role focuses on building external partnerships, generating actionable insights from clinical practice, translating emerging science into meaningful dialogue, and supporting evidence-based decision-making. Operating as a field-based role, the MSL bridges external scientific needs with internal medical priorities to improve patient outcomes and reinforce Novartis’ reputation for scientific excellence.

About the Role
Key responsibilities
- Execute Medical Expert engagement plans and conduct unbiased, evidence-based scientific exchange with HCPs and Medical Experts.
- Identify, map, and proactively engage key stakeholders to address scientific needs, evidence gaps, and clinical questions.
- Share, interpret, and contextualize clinical data and publications while supporting scientific education activities.
- Collect, synthesize, and communicate actionable insights from field interactions, clinical practice, and competitive landscape.
- Inform medical strategies through real-world insights and support clinical research activities including site identification and study execution.
- Contribute to planning and execution of medical education initiatives, scientific events, and internal knowledge exchange.
- Maintain strong understanding of therapeutic area, scientific developments, and competitor landscape.
- Build and maintain partnerships with medical experts, institutions, and scientific communities to drive collaboration and innovation.
- Act as a trusted scientific partner internally, providing clinical context, insights, and training in a matrix environment.
- Ensure all activities comply with regulatory, ethical, and governance standards while maintaining accurate documentation and reporting.
Requirements
- Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, or MSc in Life Sciences), with fluency in English and the local country language, and relevant experience in Medical Affairs or scientific roles.
- Experience engaging in scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals and interpreting clinical data.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations, compliance, and scientific engagement standards.
- Ability to generate, interpret, and communicate insights from clinical and real-world evidence.
- Knowledge of evidence generation approaches including clinical trials and observational studies.
- Strong collaboration skills with ability to work effectively in cross-functional and matrix environments.
- Excellent planning, prioritization, and territory management capabilities.
- Strong scientific communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- High level of integrity, ethical mindset, and patient-centric approach.
- Adaptability, resilience, and a proactive, growth-oriented mindset.

Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role:
- 65,606.00 - 117,800.00 EUR
The salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies and experience in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically.
In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for a performance-based bonus depending on certain performance parameters. Further details will be provided during the application process.
