As Global Category Manager Automation & Robotics, you will translate broader procurement strategies into effective category plans and sourcing initiatives. You will drive supplier performance, value delivery and contracting activities while partnering with divisions, countries, sites, Category teams and Business Partners.

This is an opportunity to play an important role in an evolving global Category Management structure, strengthening how Procurement operates and partners with its internal customers.

About the Role

Key responsibilities:

  • Translate global divisional Category strategy into effective sub-category strategies, sourcing plans and implementation activities.
  • Lead sourcing initiatives within Automation & Robotics and deliver agreed procurement savings and value targets.
  • Contribute to the overall Category strategy, including supplier segmentation, strategic supplier identification and business planning.
  • Lead strategic supplier relationships, establish consistent performance indicators and address supplier performance risks and issues promptly.
  • Lead major contracting activities within the sub-category, ensuring negotiated agreements are clearly communicated and consistently applied.
  • Gather supplier information and feedback from divisions, countries, sites, Category teams and Business Partners.
  • Support the delivery of relevant Procurement Balanced Scorecard metrics and other measures of financial and customer value.
  • Manage budgets and resource allocation within the area of responsibility, ensuring priority projects are appropriately resourced and delivered.
  • Manage the performance and development of direct reports and contribute to the development of indirect team members, where applicable.

Essential Requirements:

  • Significant professional experience in procurement, strategic sourcing or Category Management, with responsibility for complex sourcing initiatives.
  • Experience developing and implementing category or sub-category strategies and sourcing plans.
  • Strong experience managing strategic supplier relationships and supplier performance.
  • Demonstrated commercial capability, including supplier negotiations and the management of significant contracts.
  • Experience delivering procurement savings, value and relevant performance measures.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions, countries, sites and business areas.
  • Experience managing complex projects, priorities, budgets and resources within a procurement environment.
  • Leadership capability, including experience managing and developing teams and talent.

Desirable Skills:

  • Category experience: Experience or demonstrated exposure to industrial or laboratory automation, robotics, control systems, system integration or related technology and engineering categories is preferred.
  • Technology-focused sourcing: Familiarity with sourcing technology-intensive solutions and considering lifecycle cost, scalability, interoperability and supplier or technology dependency would be an advantage.
  • Supplier and stakeholder environment: Experience working with automation suppliers, technology partners, engineering teams or manufacturing stakeholders, together with an interest in emerging technologies, is preferred.
