50 human clinical trials in early phases! That is the scope of our Molecular & Cellular Sciences team in BioMarker Development / Translational Medicine. As a Scientist in Biomarker Development, you will work in close collaboration with Molecular and Cellular Sciences study leaders and clinical teams in a matrix environment to implement internal and external biomarker activities, provide interpretation of results to enable mechanistic, safety and efficacy understanding. You will be developing and validating innovative biomarker solutions, implementing new methodologies, delivering high quality data and playing a pivotal role in early and late phase human clinical trials.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Be a lab bench scientist, providing technical expertise with a special focus on ligand binding assay such as ELISAs (MSD, Luminex, ELLA), mass spectrometry, point-of-care testing
  • Perform Biomarker validation studies to support the development of soluble biomarkers
  • Experience with Quanterix Simoa and Mass Spectrometry is a plus.
  • Contribute to the implementation of internal and external (outsourced) biomarker activities in clinical studies
  • Providing subject matter expertise for transferring, implementation and monitoring of assay development, validation and sample analysis at external provider
  • Present results at internal meetings and in collaboration with  lab head
  • Work in a matrix environment and collaborate with a team of lab scientists to apply innovative biomarker solutions
  • Independently design, execute, and interpret experiments
  • Ensure high quality and timely delivery of internal and external results
  • Conduct activities in compliance with Novartis policies, Values and Behaviour and relevant guidelines

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/MS in Biology, biochemistry or related discipline  with 4+ years of professional experience in Method development/Validation of immunoassays in industry or biotechnology environment.
  • Experience with multiplex assays and profiling platforms is highly desired. 
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirement relevant to Biomarker Development (e.g. GCP, ICH)
  • Good digital literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Soft MaxPro, SMART Book, GraphPad Prism, Watson LIMS, ST sample tracking system a plus)
  • Desire to learn and enjoy working at the bench alongside other assay specialists.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $102,400 and $153,600/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
