Summary

The Disease Area Head is responsible for leading the Disease Area (DA) vision, strategy, and prioritized key initiatives. The incumbent will focus on key markets and regions and, together with the cross functional teams, develop and implement integrated strategies to strengthen disease area leadership, and support successful product launches across the portfolio.
The Disease Area Head manages and develops the overall strategic and operational plans for the current and future portfolio within the disease area and is accountable for achieving agreed organizational objectives. The role leads and develops a high-performing team and builds effective and enduring relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Typically leads a medium to large organization, with responsibility for translating organizational priorities into execution plans, driving operational excellence, and fostering sustainable growth and innovation within the Disease Area.

About the Role

  • Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, applicable regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Responsible for effective financial planning, budget management, and resource allocation.
  • Leads, manages, and develops Disease Area's current and future product portfolio, ensuring delivery of agreed business objectives and strategic priorities within approved budgets.
  • Develops and implements regional strategic and operational plans for the Disease Area in close collaboration with local and global teams.
  • Enables close partnering with cross functional teams through strong cross-functional planning, alignment, and execution.
  • Monitors the external environment, competitive landscape, and market dynamics, providing insights to support strategic decision-making and portfolio optimization.
  • Collaborates with external experts and stakeholders to advance Disease Area strategic priorities.

  • Provides strategic oversight across key markets and regions, partnering with stakeholders to identify priorities and develop strategies and execution plans.
  • Builds and continuously refines a fit-for-purpose One Brand Plan to support portfolio objectives and patient impact.
  • Facilitates cross-functional decision-making and drives enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Leads the execution of Disease Area strategic priorities, customer engagement strategies, go-to-market principles, global initiatives, and key programs.
  • Reporting of technical complaints, adverse events, and special case scenarios related to Novartis products within 24 hours of receipt.
