About the Role:
The Head AI Technology Enablement is accountable to ensure strategic alignment, governance, and responsible adoption of AI initiatives across the organization, and will be the single point of contact to coordinate cross-functional AI technology activities at company level.
The Head AI Technology Enablement works closely with DD&IT Business Function DS&AI Leads, BR IT colleagues, and Enterprise Functions to capture and prioritize AI-related demands, accelerate technology assessments, and drive scalable enablement.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the enterprise AI technology portfolio, ensuring alignment to strategic priorities, compliance requirements, and value targets.
- Drive significant organizational impact across to simplify and standardize AI initiatives across the enterprise, and drive an AI cultural mindset change across NVS to enable capability building and advanced AI adoption.
- Provide clarity on the AI pipeline technologies being assessed or approved for internal use, define AI technology company goals and objectives as well as indicators of performance and quality metrics, identify opportunities, gaps and priorities, and contribute to best practice standards.
- Derive to newly required AI enterprise capabilities by having transparency on current requirements and future even only predictable needs
- Understand the business direction, align strategy to scope program, and drive measurable expected results aligned with business process and solution standards
- Provide executive-level insights, advisory and decision recommendations, enable data-driven investment decisions, trade-offs, and portfolio optimization
- Drive business adoption and scale-up, ensuring AI solutions translate into real-world outcomes, and manage and coach globally distributed teams according to targets, roles, and Novartis values including strategic suppliers that support scope of work
- Partner with the business, Company Strategy Office and DD&IT DS&AI teams to ensure alignment on AI initiatives adoption across the company, and ensure all solutions comply with internal and external requirements, working with DD&IT Security and Compliance.
- Demonstrate internal and external presence that brings recognition of Novartis as a leader and innovator in AI
- Represent DD&IT in industry forums to promote leadership and address evolving business needs, and serve as a member and/or lead various cross-divisional key initiatives – e.g. Agentic Orchestration Architecture deployment
Essential Requirements:
- University degree or equivalent. Master’s degree is desirable.
- 15+ years in program, portfolio, or transformation management within large, complex organizations
- 10+ years of management experience in managing global cross-functional teams and programs and working with strategic suppliers is key
- Proven experience leading enterprise-scale AI, digital, or data transformation programs
- Strong background operating at the intersection of business strategy, technology delivery, and governance
- Strong understanding of AI-enablement of IT processes and experience to navigating fast-evolving AI ecosystems, vendors, and platforms are required
- Ability to influence without authority across federated organizations, and comfortable operating in ambiguity and shaping new operating models
- Exceptional senior stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Solid knowledge of Agile, AI, NLP, GenAI

- Working experience within the pharmaceutical industry is a plus
