Summary

The Associate Director, ASCEND has a key organizational role to partner with the ASCEND ((AI and System Collaboration to Enable Development) Functional and Service Area Leads, drive development of the integrated strategy and delivery for the highly complex Development technology transformation programs, ensuring organizational alignment and seamless cross-functional execution for the programs in scope (e.g., SCAPE, EVOLUTION, Digital Protocol, Clinical Imaging Platform and NextGen).

The Associate Director, ASCEND may deputize for the Executive Director - Clinical Data Tech Platform as leader and spokesperson for ASCEND IDM. This role is responsible for integrated scoping, delivery, and execution of strategic technology transformation programs within the ambit Clinical Data Landscape.

About the Role

Major accountabilities:

  • Influence cross-functional program strategy to ensure innovation, productivity and feasibility.
  • Enable cross functional collaboration to define an integrated scope across all programs and global functions of Development.
  • Build and enhance the integrated Delivery and Execution model for key initiatives (SCAPE, EVOLUTION, Digital Protocol, Clinical Imaging Platform and NextGen) for upmost impact for Development.
  • Ensure generation and maintenance of high-quality key program level artefact including integrated program plan, product inventory, roadmaps, risk-register, reporting, value tracking and resource plans.
  • Design and deliver integrated transformation and readiness for future product-based improvements.
  • Embed consistent high-quality change management framework across all programs and products.
  • Author executive communication of program progress, changes, and risks
  • Ensure effective team dynamics, performance, prioritization and communication between Global Functions, DD&IT (Data Digital & Information Technology), Partners and ASCEND
  • Identify key program resource gaps, propose mitigation, and escalate as needed within global functions, DD&IT and ASCEND.

Minimum Requirements:
Work Experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent (MBA with bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in life science)
  • 12+ years of cross industry experience, ~7 years of Pharma experience
  • 7~ years of equivalent multi-/cross-functional leadership experience
  • Should have a good understanding of clinical data flow and related processes within Drug Development
  • Previous track record of success in working with and leading large scale and complex international and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Expert knowledge in technology transformational programs of global scale
  • Excellent portfolio/ program management skills
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in pharma business development is a plus.
  • Expert in executive communication and information management
  • Strong Leadership presence with the ability to present and interact with senior management; demonstrates being politically savvy.
  • Strength demonstrated in strategic decision making, scenario evaluation and contingency planning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for bridging between scientific and business participants, for driving a program to effective implementation and for managing effective international collaborations; strong verbal communication, expert in written communications, expert team player.
  • Advanced planning and tracking skills, ability to use proper tools in program management and capable of managing multiple programs with respect to priorities.
