As the US Chief Medical Officer, Liviu is responsible for leading the US Medical Affairs organization, translating science into impact, ensuring that healthcare professionals (HCPs) have access to accurate, evidence-based information, so that they can make informed decisions for their patients.

Liviu began his career in his home country of Romania as a public health physician. He joined Novartis in 2022 from Bicara Therapeutics where he served as Chief Medical Officer developing oncology medicines. He has also held key clinical development and medical affairs leadership positions at bluebird bio, Takeda Oncology and Pfizer.
Liviu holds an M.D. and a Ph.D. from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania, a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Bucharest, and a master’s degree in public health from Harvard University.
Liviu likes to travel, hike, bike and run, often with his two energetic young boys and his wonderful wife.
