The Medical Oncology Head defines and executes the country-specific medical strategy for the Oncology Therapeutic Area, ensuring impactful scientific engagement, medical education, and evidence generation across the product lifecycle. As the country scientific leader for Oncology, the role shapes strategy, guides external engagement, and ensures high scientific and compliance standards to support optimal patient outcomes and business success.

About the Role

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a country-specific Medical Oncology strategy aligned with international plans across pre-launch, launch, and lifecycle phases.
  • Define and oversee local evidence generation strategies including RWE, HEOR inputs, Phase IIIb/IV studies, and publication planning.
  • Serve as the Oncology disease-area scientific leader, providing expert medical input to Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, and other internal partners.
  • Lead and guide peer-to-peer scientific exchange with healthcare professionals and medical experts, ensuring credible, unbiased, and compliant engagement.
  • Provide strategic direction to MSL and field medical teams to ensure aligned, high-quality external engagement and insight generation.
  • Design and deliver the medical education strategy, including scientific events, congresses, symposia, and hospital-based education activities.
  • Ensure consistent localization and quality of scientific communication materials, presentations, and external medical content.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with key medical experts, scientific societies, and academic institutions to strengthen scientific leadership.
  • Guarantee compliance with ERC, regulatory, and governance requirements across all medical activities and materials.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire the Oncology medical organization, fostering a high-performance culture, strong succession planning, and capability development.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent) with 7+ years of experience in Medical Affairs and/or Clinical Development, ideally within Oncology; fluency in English and local language required.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing medical strategies across the product lifecycle.
  • Strong experience in scientific engagement with healthcare professionals and medical experts.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience leading medical or field-based scientific teams.
  • Expertise in local evidence generation, publication planning, and interpretation of clinical data.
  • Experience leading medical education programs and congress activities.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Market Access, Regulatory, Marketing, and Commercial teams.
  • Solid knowledge of compliance, regulatory requirements, and medical governance.
  • Strategic, patient-centric leader with strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex scientific topics.
