Summary

About the Role: This position is directly accountable for Raw Material Planning, Purchasing, Clinical Warehouse Operations, Compliance, Budget, and Staffing. Major responsibilities include being responsible for and leading materials management and cGMP Warehouse Operations, such as material planning, purchasing, receiving, storage and distribution of incoming materials (including Leukapheresis), inventory control, and shipping of final product at/from the East Hanover Cell and Gene Therapy Pilot Plant. Supporting Development organization with procurement and setting up inventory management. Other duties include ensuring Compliance for the Materials Management and Warehouse Operations in accordance with Novartis Quality Standards, Regulatory, and local and State governmental requirements.

About the Role

  • Accountable for planning and purchasing of raw materials, overseeing purchases from vendors, and ensuring consistent material availability for all GMP manufacturing. Responsible for supporting material purchasing and creating inventory management system for Development.
  • Responsible for developing and monitoring forecasts for raw material based on clinical and non-clinical demand and manufacturing schedules.
  • Manages relationships with key vendors and internal suppliers to ensure availability of critical materials and uninterrupted supply and provides with material forecasts.
  • Drives material release process and manages shortages and identifies and escalates any critical material supply issues.
  • Owns and assists in investigation and root cause analyses for supply disruptions or material quality issues and provides technical teams with relevant documents related to materials from vendors. Manages audit actions, quality events, change controls, and other Compliance related activities.
  • Manages warehouse operations including staffing, warehouse area management, material receipt, storage, material movement, and inventory control.
  • Develops and implements procedures, processes, and system improvements related to warehouse operations including warehouse design and layout.
  • Ensures inventory accuracy through cycle count and accurate and timely inventory adjustments, and investigates problems associated with incoming materials.
  • Responsible for staffing plans, strategic/succession planning and performance management, as well as encouraging a culture of compliance, continuous improvement, and strong environmental and safety performance. Build and maintain a strong team by recruiting and encouraging development of empowered and diverse team members. Lead and empower team members by providing feedback, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Accountable for warehouse business continuity strategy, driving operational excellence, supporting the organization in SAP implementation, and providing audit support and remediation of audit findings.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $112,800 and $169,200/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Logistics, Business, Industrial Engineering or Operations Research preferred.
  • APICS certification strongly desired
  • 8-10 years logistics experience in a pharmaceutical/industrial operations environment, experience in C&G Therapy preferred.
  • 3-4 years’ experience in a leadership or management role with proven track record of effectively supervising, developing, and mentoring a diverse team, improving their skills and performance, and promoting professional growth
  • Supply Chain Principles – extensive knowledge and understanding of Materials Management principles such as (but not limited to) MPS, MRP, CRP, DRP, SFC, purchasing, distribution, import/export, transportation, etc.
  • Finance – working capital.
  • Pharmaceutical cGMP – solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
