Requires an understanding of one or more of the following: molecular biology and cell biology.
Research Scientist II: Performs experiments and procedures demonstrating proficiency with a broad range of scientific or technology techniques; executes high‐quality experiments and delivers and interprets data with colleagues and/or project teams. -
Major accountabilities:
- Research Scientist II: Generates hypotheses to test, troubleshoots issues and designs and executes the next set of experiments with some input from senior lab members/manager.
- Generate stable research cell lines expressing membrane proteins, including freezing, thawing, cultivation, transfection and selection of mammalian cell lines.
- Confirm expression by FACS analysis and perform FACS sorting if needed
- Transient small scale expression tests including Western Blot readouts
- Understanding of molecular biology and plasmid design is a plus
- Collecting, analysing and processing of data, result interpretation, preparation of summary documents and reports
- Document experiments and data using electronic lab book and data management systems
- Participates constructively and presents own data in working teams and at lab meetings
- Works collaboratively across lab with all members.
- Steps in to support general lab responsibilities i.e. active participation in lab organization including maintenance of equipment

Work Experience:
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in industry with MSc University degree in a relevant life science discipline, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in industry with either completed Apprenticeship or BSc University degree in a relevant life science discipline
- Good theoretical and strong practical laboratory experience in mammalian cell culture (transfection, stable cell line generation, FACS analysis)
- High learning ability to acquire expertise in new technologies
- Proven experience in successfully prioritizing and keeping timelines
- Excellent organization skills; ability to run multiple projects in parallel
- Independent and accurate working style, results-driven and committed to quality
- Open and proactive communication, strong customer focus, ability to interact with various stakeholders
- Reliable and flexible team player, used to share tasks and projects
