About the Role

Your key responsibilities:
As our MS-based protein characterization scientist, you will be designing, planning, and performing experiments with the latest LC-MS instruments. Your work will involve analyzing therapeutic proteins, degradation products, and post-translational modifications – and the occasional odd molecule. You'll be responsible for generating and interpreting data, and communicating results to our technical teams.

As the MS expert, you'll help decide on next steps. You'll also prepare technical documents and reports, participate in function-specific sub-teams, and share your knowledge with your team members. Minimal direction will be provided, so we're looking for someone who can take charge and fulfill their responsibilities with confidence.

What you’ll bring to the role:
• Ideally, you will have completed technical studies in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biology or other natural sciences. Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry or equivalent is highly recommended. In all cases, you should bring along protein chemistry knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to analytical challenges
• We need someone with real-life experience in characterizing proteins, peptides, and glycans using mass spectrometry. You should be comfortable using ground breaking ESI-Q-TOF, Orbitrap, or MALDI-TOF MS technologies, and be familiar with data processing software like Xcalibur, Refiner MS, Analyst, and GPMAW. You should also be able to understand and interpret data with ease and have the ability to challenge software results through partial de-novo sequencing. Just clicking a button won’t do!
• Fluency in English (oral and written), knowledge of German is a plus.
Desirable Requirements:
• Proficient scientific/technical writing and presentation skills.
• Broad knowledge in protein/peptide/glycan separation approaches (i.e. chromatographic, various modes).
• Understanding of development activities and processes in Biopharma and knowledge on relevant regulatory guidelines.
• Basic programming skills (e.g. R, Phyton)
