Associate Director for the Infrastructure Services

Your key responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Senior member of a small internal team of HPC experts, tasked with maintaining and evolving the Novartis High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure worldwide

• Represents the HPC infrastructure team in interactions with internal and external stakeholders, internal customers, and internal / external vendors and suppliers

• Drives technical initiatives in the HPC space across multiple geographies, Novartis organizational units, and a complex environment of vendors and suppliers

• Serves as a technical and service escalation point for other internal team members, as well as for external service teams

• May occasionally deputize for HPC service owner in internal and external interactions

• May assume service management duties for a specific service and/or service provider in the HPC space

What you’ll bring to the role:

• At least 3 years’ experience within a HPC/scientific computing environment

• Associate's degree in computer science, related field or equivalent industry experience with the hands-on experience of system administrative task in Linux environments

• Fluency in at least one scripting language Python/Shell or equivalent. Can build software from sources including knowledge of build systems (Make, CMake, Maven, Gradle etc.)

• Knowledge of HPC or cloud scheduling, such as Grid Engine, SLURM or LSF. Solid knowledge of computer architectures and multi-threaded/parallel processing applications

• Hands-on knowledge of network- and distributed filesystems (e.g. NFS, Lustre or equivalent Parallel file system). Good working knowledge of C/C++ programming or equivalent. Fluent English
