Sherif Amin

Novartis Egypt Country President

Sherif Amin was appointed as the Novartis Egypt Country President on July 1st, 2022. Novartis Egypt has more than 1500 associates and has a manufacturing site since 1964. Novartis serves more than 10 Mio patients in Egypt.

Before that, Sherif was the Oncology General Manager for Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia & Libya, a role he has overtaken since May 2018, where he led the regional Oncology Division through numerous successes, driving innovation and access to treatment to more than 60,000 patients with its Oncology medicines in 2021.

Amin has over 18 years of pharmaceutical experience and more than 12 years in Oncology leadership roles, where he has focused on partnering with healthcare systems in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) and on developing strategies that drive the business forward continuously. In recognition of his sustained efforts to deliver on the company’s mission, he was recognized with several awards throughout his journey such as: 2019 Oncology President Award, 2015 CEO Innovation Award and 2014 MENA Leadership Award, and many others.

Since first joining Novartis in April 2007, Amin has held several roles in the Oncology Division. He began his Novartis journey as an Oncology Product Specialist, before taking on multiple sales roles, before becoming Oncology Franchise Head for the Gulf Region in 2013, Head of Policy and Market Access, Middle East in Africa in 2015 and Business Unit Head for Egypt and Libya in 2017.

His multidimensional experience across the organization has allowed him to develop expertise in many areas including strategic and cultural transformation plans and the developing talents, while also focusing on organizational design, new launches, change management, portfolio transformation, clinical research, compliance, supply chain, distributor relations as well as patency and legal matters. By traversing different functions, and numerous country and regional roles, Sherif has successfully built up an extensive background in P&L management, pricing, health economics, innovative access models, policy shaping and government affairs, using his leadership and knowledge base to maintain an effective course of the division.

Sherif is a value-based, inspiring leader with a strong record in building high-performing and diverse teams, and a strong believer in servant leadership. Sherif received his Bachelor in Pharmacy from Alexandria University, Egypt and his MBA from Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands
