Summary

Are you passionate about translating cutting-edge science into meaningful clinical impact? As a Biomarker Lead in Translational Medicine Japan, you will shape and drive biomarker strategies across early to late-stage clinical development programs. You will play a critical role in bridging preclinical discoveries with clinical application, working cross-functionally and externally with key opinion leaders to advance biomarker science. This is a highly visible leadership role where your expertise will directly influence clinical decision-making, patient selection, and the success of innovative therapies.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead biomarker strategies across projects from early discovery through late-stage clinical development
  • Drive translation of preclinical discoveries into fit-for-purpose clinical biomarker plans
  • Build and maintain strategic collaborations with academic partners and clinical sites
  • Provide scientific leadership within Japan and across global matrix teams
  • Integrate biomarker strategies into clinical protocols and study designs
  • Partner with internal experts to plan and execute biomarker studies effectively
  • Interpret biomarker data and contribute to clinical study reports and decision-making
  • Ensure alignment across therapeutic areas, indications, and global biomarker leaders
  • Support regulatory interactions related to biomarkers and translational research
  • Represent biomarker strategies in internal and external scientific discussions

Essential Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Doctor of Philosophy, Medical Doctor, or Master of Science) in a relevant scientific field
  • Strong expertise in biology and translational research applied to clinical drug development
  • Significant experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or translational research environments
  • Proven contributions to clinical programs and studies, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Experience working with quantitative data such as biostatistics, omics, or bioinformatics is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate in cross-functional, matrix teams
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence stakeholders across complex organizations
  • Fluent in Japanese and English, both written and spoken

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with advanced analytical approaches such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, or computational biology
  • Established network with key opinion leaders in academia or clinical research environments
