Imagine being the scientific voice in the field who helps shape how oncology care evolves—by turning evidence into meaningful conversations, partnerships, and action that can improve patient outcomes. In this role, you will lead and coach a team of six to eight Medical Science Liaisons while translating the local medical plan into a clear, field-ready strategy across the product lifecycle, from pre-launch through launch and beyond. You will build trusted, ethical relationships with healthcare professionals and medical experts, gather insights that inform strategic decisions, and collaborate closely with internal partners such as Medical, Value and Access, Regulatory, Commercial, and Execution Excellence to elevate scientific standards and strengthen Novartis’ reputation as a credible, patient-centered leader in oncology.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Translate the local medical plan into a clear, field-ready oncology medical strategy across the product lifecycle
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Medical Science Liaisons in line with medical excellence standards
- Drive high-quality, ethical scientific engagement with healthcare professionals and medical experts
- Ensure consistent compliance with governance, regulatory, and ethical standards in all field medical activities
- Gather, synthesize, and translate external insights into actionable strategic recommendations
- Partner cross-functionally with Medical, Commercial, Value and Access, Regulatory, and Execution Excellence teams
- Build and sustain strong partnerships with scientific societies, academic institutions, and the broader medical ecosystem
- Ability to design and deliver field country‑specific medical strategies, translating international field direction into local execution.
Essential Requirements
- Advanced scientific degree such as Medical Doctor (Is a must)
- At least seven years of experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
- Proven leadership experience guiding and developing field medical or cross-functional medical teams
- Strong expertise in interpreting, communicating, and applying complex clinical and scientific data
- Demonstrated experience building credible scientific partnerships with healthcare professionals and medical experts
- Solid understanding of compliance, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards governing medical activities
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working with regional or global medical teams and translating strategic direction into local field execution
- Experience leading medical education programs, congress activities, or external scientific events to strengthen scientific dialogue and learning
