About the Role
Major Accountabilities
1 Ensure compliance with applicable HSE laws, regulations, permits, standards and Novartis HSE requirements.
2 Support implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Site HSE Management System, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 and other applicable management systems.
3 Provide HSE support for capital projects throughout design, construction, commissioning, startup and handover phases, including HSE by Design reviews, contractor management, PSSR, risk assessments and regulatory compliance activities.
4 Conduct HSE risk assessments and support line functions in identifying, controlling and monitoring operational and project-related HSE risks.
5 Organize HSE inspections, audits, surveillance activities and behavioral safety programs; ensure timely implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
6 Coordinate contractor HSE management activities, including onboarding, permit-to-work monitoring, safety inspections, performance evaluation and construction safety oversight.
7 Lead occupational health programs including industrial hygiene monitoring, exposure risk assessments, occupational disease prevention and employee health protection initiatives.
8 Support environmental compliance programs including wastewater, waste management, air emissions, chemical management and environmental performance monitoring.
9 Act as Fire Safety Coordinator to establish emergency response procedures, firefighting team management, inspections, trainings and emergency drills.
10 Support business continuity, emergency management and crisis preparedness programs by organizing emergency plans, drills and readiness reviews.
11 Maintain HSE systems, databases, records and digital platforms (e.g. HSE Net and 3EProtect related systems), ensuring timely and accurate reporting, trending and data analysis.
12 Coordinate inspections and interactions with local authorities, certification bodies and external auditors, ensuring findings are addressed and closed in a timely manner.
13 Integrate Pharmaceuticals in the Environment (PiE) principles into site HSE programs, risk assessments, change management activities and emergency preparedness processes.
14 Support sustainability, ESG and environmental improvement initiatives to achieve site and company objectives.
15 Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with applicable GMP requirements, quality standards, HSE procedures and asset management requirements.
16 Support cross-functional projects, continuous improvement initiatives and perform other duties assigned by management.
