About the role:
We are seeking a Medical Evidence & Execution Manager who will co-lead the CPO strategy and implement all local evidence generation initiatives. This person will ensure the production of high-quality data to support core strategic pillars like improving patient outcomes, institutional cost savings, and patient access. To achieve this, the manager ensures alignment with internal and external national and international regulations for interventional and non-interventional studies, ensures quality, timelines and budget targets are met and will be responsible for Local – Regional – Global alignment through close working relationships with global and regional teams, and leverage internal expertise, standard processes and capabilities across the CPO.

This role will work directly with the therapeutical area teams and reports to the Medical Excellence Senior Manager.

Key responsibilities:
• Ensure the research projects fulfil the scientific, methodological, and procedural concepts vital to align with Novartis standards for clinical studies, helping the medical team to achieve this requirement. Promote efficient local evidence generation and dissemination in order to generate maximum impact.
• Lead the local data generation cross-functional team and engages in thoughtful problem-solving, decision-making support and execution against plans, enable smart goal setting, and operational approach to achieve near-term and long-term objectives.
• Liaise with Global and Regional teams to identify alliances and leverage local data where applicable and/or support local teams identifying & developing local data sources.
• Develop positive relationships, capability building with internal partners in a cross-functional framework (clinical, safety, regulatory, health outcomes and commercial functions) to meet product needs.
• Improve disease understanding relevant to drug development: incidence, prevalence, risk factors, natural history course, treatment patterns, co-morbidities, co-medications, outcome measures (cost efficiency data), phenotypes, biomarkers, unmet needs, implementation science and population health as per needed.
• Proactively support planning, implementing and delivering high quality, scientifically robust observational and/or Clinical trials craft (i.e target population, protocol development, sample sizing, patient recruitment, patient medical history data ascertainment), contribute to research planning process and resolution of issues.
• Critically appraise existing epidemiology evidence and build new evidence through delivery of specific research plans/protocols and analysis of healthcare databases available within Novartis.

Role Requirements

• Master’s degree (in a relevant field (i.e. health services research, health outcomes research (HEOR), public health, statistics or pharmaceutical sciences)
• At least 2 years’ experience (3-5 preferred) conducting pharmaco-epidemiologic research
• Prior pharma experience preferred
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently to develop credibility with colleagues within and outside Medical Department, as well as interact effectively in multi-disciplinary matrix teams.
• Broad experience in collaborating with research partners
• Ability to work well within a business-driven environment, balance priorities and handle multiple tasks through careful planning, partner management, project administration, and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to communicate scientific evidence to peers and at scientific meetings.
