About the Role

As a Master student for process development and new technologies, you will be a key enabler for our aspirations to advance process analytical technologies (PAT) in upstream process development and contribute to our innovation strategy. You will be working on PAT-related innovation projects using spectroscopy-based method for real-time cell culture media release and/ or dynamic feeding strategy in fed-batch cell cultures, in close collaboration with experts within the Biologics community.

Your Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Be responsible for designing, planning, executing, and evaluating experiments to support the innovation project for real-time monitoring and control of upstream processes using Raman spectroscopy.
• Perform data preparation, pre-processing and multivariate data analysis (MVDA) with spectral data.
• Develop and evaluate spectroscopy-based machine learning models.
• Collaborate with lab experts, engineers and automation colleagues for implementation of developed method.
• Present and document experimental results, data analysis, models, and other findings in various forums.
• Identify and support new PAT initiatives in the upstream area, as well as proactively identify challenges and propose solutions.

Role Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
• Recent post-graduate in a relevant field as data science, bio-informatics, biochemical engineering, bioprocess technology or similar with a strong background on coding and programming
• Experience in PAT, data pre-processing and machine learning algorithms
• Practical experience with statistical methods (DoE, MVDA) and coding skills (i.e. Python)
• Experience with the Python data science stack (Numpy, Scikit-Learn, Pandas) are preferred
• Excellent ability to build collaborative relationships and a can-do mind-set
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and technical writing skills are expected
• Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
• Agility to adjust to a fast-changing working environment
• Knowledge on USP processes and engineering principles are highly preferred
• Proficiency in oral and written English
