As part of this transformative journey, we are looking for a Corporate Communications Lead to join our team. As Corporate Communications Lead you will focus on building Novartis’ corporate brand and reputation in Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Country Head of Communications and Engagement, you will develop strategic plans and messaging to enhance and protect our reputation, shape the environment in response to patient needs and effectively engage key stakeholders, internally and externally.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and using our Novartis ANZ narrative through earned and owned channels, collaborating with global corporate affairs to ensure alignment with our global brand.
  • Collaborating with the Country President and leadership team to create and implement thought leadership content and engagements.
  • Cultivating positive relationships with industry partners and groups, such as research institutes, policy organizations, and the media.
  • Ensuring consistent and aligned industry reputation messaging through collaboration with trade associations, potentially involving participation in relevant industry working groups and committees.
  • Managing communications related to policies and issues, including strategic planning and key message development.
  • Partnering with the People and Organization to understand and promote our employee value proposition to attract and retain talent.
  • Developing and implementing an internal communications strategy, including engaging employees through events like Town Halls, to enhance advocacy.
  • Measuring the impact of our communications, generating data and insights to find opportunities and inform future strategy.
  • Overseeing the corporate communications budget and managing external agencies, when necessary.
  • Building organizational capabilities and promoting understanding in the fields of storytelling, issues and crisis management, and thought leadership.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Qualified candidates for this role should have a background in Communications and/or Corporate Affairs. Your expertise will be demonstrated by your successful implementation of corporate communication strategies that enhance corporate reputation and drive advocacy. Additional requirements include:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience working in-house and/or in agency

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Preferred, but not required, experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Proven ability to navigate policy and manage issues effectively, including interactions with the media.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create compelling content tailored to various audiences.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to leverage and measure digital channels to engage stakeholders and demonstrate impact.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to measure the impact and effectiveness of communication and advocacy initiatives.
  • A curious and proactive mindset, able to navigate complex situations and respond to a changing environment.
