#  Dia Mundial da Asma: Está na hora de desmistificar alguns mitos 

A elevada prevalência da asma reforça a necessidade de desmistificar alguns dos principais mitos sobre esta doença

Para assinalar o Dia Mundial da Asma, 5 de maio, revelamos alguns dos principais mitos que necessitam de ser desmistificados junto de quem vive com esta patologia. A asma, uma doença inflamatória crónica dos brônquios, inicia-se habitualmente, na infância, mas que pode surgir em qualquer idade. Os sintomas típicos desta doença são a tosse, pieira, falta de ar e aperto no peito, que se podem agravar com o esforço físico e cansaço nas atividades do dia-a-dia.

É uma doença de elevada prevalência que afeta cerca de 759 mil portugueses e, segundo os estudos mais recentes, cerca de 20% (150 mil) não têm a doença controlada¹, verificando-se, nestes casos, um forte impacto na vida dos doentes.
