This division is the innovation engine of Novartis, focusing on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. The NIBR portfolio consists of projects using several therapeutic modalities including small molecules, biologics, gene therapy and cell-based therapies. We collaborate across scientific and organizational boundaries, with a focus on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.

The CNIBR R&D Trainee Program recruits young talent with Master’s degree in life or medical sciences and offers scientific and professional training in Novartis Shanghai Campus.

Translational research training includes mentoring and coaching in the following areas to support your personal growth:
•Rapidly expand your knowledge on various therapeutic areas to understand the unmet medical needs in China and Asia prevalent diseases and how they can fit into the global portfolio
•Work with senior translational research scientist to identify key scientific questions in China and Asia prevalent diseases to support coming clinical trials in China/Asia
•Get familiar with various online databases and resources and conduct data mining for hypothesis generation
•Learn how to design translational research project for disease endotyping, patient stratification, drug repositioning, as well as biomarker and disease mechanism discovery
•Get familiar with different types of clinical biomarkers, common and advanced biomarker technologies and biomarker strategy in clinical development
•Conduct translational research activities in collaboration with internal line functions and 3rd party commercial or academic laboratories
•Work together with Data scientists on bioinformatics data analysis, digital endpoint, etc.
•Novartis also offers cross-functional trainings and communication opportunities from early drug discovery, early and late phase trials to commercial team

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
•Master graduates within 1 year post graduation
•Major in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Bioinformatics, Molecular Genetics or a related field with average GPA above 3.0 (4.0 scale) in major courses
•Working experience in research laboratory or pharmaceutical company is highly desired
•Strong interest in translational research and self-motivated to develop career in biopharmaceutical industry
•Strong learning capability and willing to work in a matrix collaborating environment
•English skill required- good reading comprehension, basic writing and speaking; Good team player. Can work under pressure and be willing to meet challenges
