Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is seeking a talented and highly motivated biologist to join our Exploratory Immuno-Oncology (IO) group in Cambridge, MA. We are dedicated to discovering innovative cancer therapeutics and therapeutic formats that transform patient’s lives.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team of scientists in IO, playing a key role in studying and developing chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-mediated T cell therapy. The candidate will be working toward innovating and increasing our biological understanding of our T cell-based therapies. The high quality data generated will directly impact the discovery of therapies and provide a major contribution to the design of future clinical trials. This position will therefore be ideal for those candidates wishing to combine their interest in cancer immunology with their strong desire to discover therapeutic approaches.

The ideal candidate should possess a BS/MS degree with at least 3-5 years of relevant research experience. Knowledge of immunology is crucial, expertise in T cell biology and/or process development is highly desirable. It is essential the candidate has an excellent working knowledge of a breadth of cellular biological methods. Specifically, these include: primary T cell culture, primary immune cell isolation (human and/or murine), T cell functional assays, multi-color flow cytometry (FACS), and viral transduction. Working experience with cGMP manufacturing is a plus.

The candidate should be a scientifically motivated self-starter, capable of independently conceiving, conducting and critically analyzing your own innovative research. Also, possessing demonstrated ability to quickly learn and perform in new areas, implement new techniques and instrumentation with minimal supervision is must. Strong presentation skills, communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment will also be vital.
