Job Purpose:
The Head Market Access & External Affairs Denmark (MAX & EA) has overall responsibility for securing market access of Novartis’ oncology products in Denmark. He or she leverages on a deep understanding of Danish political environment, healthcare structure and regulations to devise innovative MAX & EA initiatives that will provide a sustainable competitive advantage in a given business environment. The Head MAX & EA Denmark ensures patient access to Novartis’ pharmaceuticals and therapies, and in collaboration with other functions influences and develops health political legislation, regulations and reimbursement systems. The Head MAX & EA Denmark accounts for optimal prices of launch and in market brands. He or she ensures qualitative and quantitative input into budget, strategic and operational planning.

Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for Price, Reimbursement & Funding: Ensure target reimbursement and funding; in collaboration with HEOR team ensure relevant health economic evaluations; ensure optimal bidding strategy in tenders. Lead local negotiations with Health Authorities.
• Proactive maintenance of brands already on the market in terms of pricing and generic threats. He or she also has accountability of LoE preparations for mature brands.
• People Management: Leads and develops the local Market Access team to set up and drive strategies and execution on both national and regional levels.
• Build Market Access: Assess the current and future market access needs and together with the MAX & EA Leadership Team and other Novartis Business Units, align and execute on a capability building plans.
• Responsible for influencing the National Health Policy in collaboration with other functions. Communicate developments in the external environment and how they may translate into scenarios with commercial significance. Proactively influence the political environment through continuous lobbying and cooperation with the industry associations, either directly or through colleagues in Novartis Pharmaceuticals.
• Establishes and maintains a strategic network of key stakeholders, payers, and Health Economic opinion leaders in the country as well as Institutions by means of innovative approaches, initiatives and projects.
• Understands payers’ requirements and needs, and are able to build strong value communication based on health economic evidence, epidemiological studies, clinical data, and budget impact analyses to support price and budget negotiations.
• Acts as a core contributor to applicable disease area teams to make sure all access and value assessment needs are included in overall product strategy.
• Is part of the Nordic Oncology MAX Leadership team, the extended Nordic Oncology Leadership Team and the Innovative Medicine Market Access Board in Denmark.
• Supports compliance in all interactions throughout the organization and maintains continuous liaison with the Regional and local compliance function to ensure that all processes and activities are in line with internal and external policies (NP4, EFPIA, global guidelines).

The ideal candidate will have:
• University degree (scientific, economics or business degree)
• Fluent in Danish and proficiency in English
• Pharma industry experience (min. 7 years), and pharma market access experience (min. 5 years)
• Deep understanding about the Danish P&R and health care system
• Good understanding of health economics and evidence generation to support market access
• Ability to collaborate and build trust and relationships, both internally and externally
• People management experience
• Strong business acumen and ability to strategic thinking
• Excellent negotiation skills and project management skills
