About the Role

Principal Automation Engineer (f/m/d), Novartis, Schaftenau, Austria

As member of the BioFuture Program Team you are working within a network of innovative Pilot and Manufacturing Plants in order to manufacture complex biological molecules in a faster, more flexible and more cost-efficient manner


Your key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage project teams for MES modifications & extensions
• Collaborate with automation team and development partners in complex production environment
• Provide expertise for software implementation, qualification, and testing
• Develop interfaces to other site systems (e.g., SAP, DCS, Lab Systems)
• Define and improve business processes and integrate with GMP operations
• Lead improvement initiatives
• Support automation knowledge exchanges and issue management
• Establish program team for automation branches in Drug Substance manufacturing network
• Ensure future-oriented and highly automated production concept

Role Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
Essential:


• Bachelor or Master degree in the field of Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years of relevant working experience in MES development (design), configuration and implementation. Experience with DCS is beneficial
• Experience in a food, drug or medical devices regulated industry required
• Experience with GMP, equipment qualification and knowledge in computerized system validation (CSV) are beneficial
• Experience in implementation and qualification of a MES, preferably in the context of a large-scale biotechnology project is beneficial.
• Specific knowledge in Syncade, DeltaV, SQL and Visual Basic are beneficial
• Languages: Fluent English, German skills beneficial
• Team player with good leadership skills and a positive attitude and ability to motivate others.
• Results driven, flexible to achieve the desired outcome.
• Technical writing skills

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 73.112/year (on a full time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
We are open for part-time and job sharing models and support flexible and remote working where possible.
