We are now hiring a Country Medical Director to lead our UK Medical Affairs function and a team of experienced Medical professionals. The role will oversee and be accountable for all local medical-scientific activities across the full Sandoz portfolio. The Director will set and drive execution of the Medical Affairs strategy, in close alignment with the Sandoz vision, CO business strategy and the Sandoz culture & compliance framework. Seamlessly collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders to pioneer access for patients. Bases decisions on exceptional understanding of local patient needs and healthcare landscape. Sandoz operates a hybrid working model.


Your responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develops annual Medical Affairs strategy, in close alignment with business needs and CO & regional leadership
• Ensures execution of high-quality Medical Affairs plans across therapeutic areas (TA)
• Leads and continuously develops the Medical Affairs team. Sets appropriate objectives & metrics. Ensures competencies, talent management, organizational culture & structures are in place to execute the Medical Affairs strategy
• Manages resources of CO Medical department, in full collaboration with CO Commercial, Finance, HR and the Regional Medical Affairs Head
• Seamlessly collaborates across all partner functions in the CO (Commercial, Market Access, Public Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, ...)
• Develops and maintains professional and long-lasting relationships with external experts and other external stakeholders. Identifies qualified collaboration partners & advisors for Sandoz
• Acts as the company’s key medical spokesperson and primary medical representative with governmental agencies, professional associations, special interest groups and the healthcare community at large
• Acts as primary contact for medical governance requirements. Accountable for understanding compliance requirements, risk identification and assessment, mitigation planning as well as implementation and monitoring of appropriate internal controls
• Oversees CO research & data generation plans. Ensures all data generation is conducted in a scientific, efficient and compliant way according to applicable strategies, policies, procedures and national regulations
• Supports Patient Safety to ensure that effective Pharmacovigilance operations within the CO, incl. adherence to reporting requirements for adverse events and other safety related documents. Proactively anticipate possible safety signals and communicate appropriately according to standard procedures
• Establishes medical and scientific information services for Sandoz medicines. Ensures high-quality medical information is communicated in an accurate, balanced, timely and compliant way

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
• Significant experience in medical affairs in a biosimilars or generics pharmaceutical environment.
• ABPI code expertise with experience in PMCPA code complaints
• UK Registered Medical Practitioner or UK registered Pharmacist as signatory.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills in a matrix organisation
• Experience in external stakeholder and third-party management
• Strong business acumen and strategic mindset
• Leadership and people management experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of coaching, mentoring and empowering associates.

Desirable requirements:
• GMC registered Physician or Pharmacist.
• Final Signatory experience is desirable.
