M.Sc. student - USP Cell Culture Development (f/m/d),Schaftenau, Austria

Process intensification is a highly relevant concept to push the limits of current bioprocesses to supply lifesaving biotherapeutic medicines at great yield in short time. One key technology for this concept is perfusion operation of the cell culture bioreactor that continuously supplies the cells with essential nutrients and removes toxic by-products. Consequently, very high cell densities are reached fast which opens the way for novel bioprocess applications. In this master thesis you will be part of a highly motivated team that will implement, evaluate, optimize, and test the limits of this key technology.

Your key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Plan and prepare cell culture bioreactor experiments
• Perform experimental procedures, including sampling operations and in-process measurements
• Preparation of data for interpretation and presentation

This work is scheduled for 9 months in 2023.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
• M.Sc. student of life sciences or related field (e.g. biotechnology or bioprocess engineering)
• Passion for working in a state-of-the-art cell culture laboratory
• Curiosity and interest in scientific problem solving
• Motivation, creative thinking and teamwork spirit

Desirable requirements:
• First experience with cell culture applications

You will be working on an exciting and industrially relevant topic and gaining valuable skills and hands-on training in a modern, state-of-the-art cell culture laboratory.

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position we offer a gross salary of €976.22 per month. Any additional payments can be issued on an ad-hoc basis.
