Job Description

10 major new medicines planned for launch over the next few years creating new career opportunities for those who want to make a direct impact on patients at scale.

The Executive Director Patient Engagement ensures the Patient Engagement (PE) Strategy and 5DP framework implementation including US input into the global PE therapeutic area strategies, is the primary relationship holder with key patient organizations in the US and talent management in the Innovative Medicines (IM) US Organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Drives the Patient Engagement (PE) strategy & framework (5 Decision Points (DP) framework) implementation at Therapeutic Area (TA) US level and ensure US input into global TA PE strategies.
• Leads the US input into early PE input in Research and Development (R&D)
• Represents PE at the US TA Leadership team (LT) level
• Ensures key stakeholder management, two-way communication, and alignment with key stakeholders inside and outside Novartis
• Ensures high level quality of legal &compliance standards and high-quality Transfer of Value (ToV) reporting standards in the US
• Provide strategic thought leadership on Patient Engagement in US and input into global strategies
• Leads PE Strategy for US across TAs with a focus on internal and external customer satisfaction
• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with US patient organizations for bidirectional exchange on R&D and commercial strategies
• Ensure talent management including the buildout of the PE talent pipeline
• In partnership with the PE Center of Excellence (CoE) ensures PE governance frameworks and PE tools developed for US are fit for purpose
• Serves as company manager for US based global PE roles

Minimum Requirements

What you will bring to this role:
Education:
• University Degree in related field – Post graduate level degree preferred in patient engagement, health, policy, or legal field.

Experience:
• Proven change agent
• Deep understanding how patient needs drive functional strategies along lifecycle
• Deep R&D understanding
• Healthcare systems, pharma industry and patient community expertise
• Proven ability to oversee and design early commercial strategies
