Job Description

As Quality Control & AST Chemical Head at Sandoz, you’ll be responsible for the QC Chemical lab and guarantee compliance with the tasks of AST Palafolls site in this permanent, full-time position.
Managing the AST Hub analysis centre within the QC-AS&T lab supporting Technical Operations, you’ll guarantee that the work in the QC, AST & AST Hub laboratories are carried out in accordance with the requirements of our Quality Manual and compliance with GMP and GLP regulations.

(Palafolls is located around 60km from the centre of Barcelona and a 30 minute drive from Girona)

What you’ll bring to the role:

As QC AST Chemical Head with around 12 direct and 10 indirect reports, you’ll use your exemplary management and organisational skills to coordinate the work in relevant teams based on the planning and needs of the site.
You’ll have the ability to lead, problem-solve and work collaboratively with your team and other relevant teams.
You’ll use excellent communication skills to influence and explain strategic decisions to be implemented. Working in an assertive and hand-on role where there is high visibility and prospects for career progression.

Your responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Manage the QC Chemical lab of Palafols site
· Coordinate the laboratory work teams based on
planning and production needs.
· Organise and guarantee compliance with the tasks of
AST
· Manage the AST Hub analysis centre within the QC-
AS&T lab, supporting NTO at an analytical and
research level.
· Find new research areas in Novartis Technical
Operations where the AST Hub can provide support.
· Guarantee in a controlled way the level of service of
the plant, ensuring the agreed KPIs and attend to the
emergencies of the site.
· Ensure the safety of the laboratory staff and propose
improvements to avoid accidents.
· Have control of the whole departmental budget.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Pharmacy, Chemistry or Engineering

Languages: Fluent English and Spanish, both written and
oral.
Experiences:
· Minimum 10 years’ experience in managing a
laboratory in the pharmaceutical industry, knowledge
of EU and US regulations (GMP, ICH, Pharmacopia).
· Excellent people management and communication
skills
· Good negotiation and influencing skills.
· Exemplary planning skills, management of projects
and routine activities.
· Solution-driver, problem-solver
· Good customer-oriented skills and ability to work on a
multidisciplinary environment.
· Good knowledge of data integrity and related
computerised systems compliance.

Desirable:
· Experience working in an FDA regulated environment
· Knowledge of Lean and OpEx
