The ideal location for this role is our East Hanover site but remote work may be possible (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. If associate is remote, all home office expenses and any travel/lodging to specific East Hanover site for periodic live meetings will be at the employee’s expense. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager. This position may require up to 20% travel. This is a US based position. No international relocation will be provided for this position.

The Executive Director, Integrated Insights New Products, BD&L and Iptacopan is a key leader of our growth agenda, delivering clarity on current and future market opportunities, helping to build effective solutions and launch plans based on strong insights and analytics, and forecasting and measuring and improving in-market performance of major product launches. This role leverages experience and knowledge from past launches to evaluate opportunities through the perspectives of the market, consumers, the product area, the company, and customers. This Executive Director builds strong relationships across R&D, Novartis IM GPSC and the IM US commercial teams in order to drive the latest customer and consumer insights that create opportunities for portfolio growth. This role spans both the Pharmaceutical and Oncology businesses.

This Executive Director possesses a high level of skill for identifying and evaluating new consumer needs and commercial opportunities based upon analytics and market insights. They have a hands-on capability to use a range of syndicated/proprietary data systems, segmentation, positioning/brand tools, advanced analytics, and custom, traditional, digital, emerging research methodologies to build new product solutions and direct effective launch plans. This role must find new data sources and deliver creative research solutions on accelerated timelines to support rapid evaluation of market opportunities while ensuring that projects adhere to sound principles and meaningful outcomes. This role leads the development and monitoring of new product forecasts that impact the financial goals and budgets of product launches. They are able to manage multiple active workstreams and synthesize large amounts of information into clear narratives that drive alignment and lead to action.

This role reports to the Vice President, Integrated Insights within the Data, Insights & Analytics team, and works closely with the leadership of New Products, BD&L and Iptacopan.


Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Direct a team of analysts, forecasters and market researchers to support the innovation agenda, business develop and licensing, and Iptacopan.
• Engage with the leadership of New Products, BD&L and Iptacopan to align on priorities and deliver insights and analyses in support of Novartis growth initiatives.
• Partner with Vice President, Integrated Insights, members of the Integrated Insights Team, Executive Vice President of Customer Engagement & Enterprise Analytics, and Executive Director of DIA Capabilities to develop, share and communicate insights and analytic outcomes which may impact the innovation portfolio.
• Commercial Analytics – develop and deliver data-driven models to evaluate innovation portfolio and product performance, with quantification of key drivers of success and/or variances to plan. Evaluate new investment opportunities with BD&L team to identify “size of prize”, incrementality, and financial attractiveness.
• Market Research – support R&D and commercial team to provide market, customer and consumer/patient insights during discovery, development, launch and in-market commercialization of new product/treatment initiatives. This includes participating in intense development “sprints” to accelerate development cycles.
• Market Research – effectively develop and apply research for segmentation (customer/patient), brand positioning, advertising campaign development, claims assessment, brand equity monitoring, and tracking consumer sentiment.
• Market Research – develop and implement effective research solutions that generate meaningful insights and outcomes with shorter lead times.
• Market Research – evaluate new product launches across a range of go-to-market options, identify routes of highest potential, identify barriers and threats to launch success.
• Forecasting – utilize market, customer and consumer/patient data to develop estimates of market potential across New Products, BD&L and Iptacopan.
• Forecasting – develop product level forecasts to establish financial goals and targets; monitor, refine and report on key variances and drivers of forecast delivery across New Products, BD&L and Iptacopan.
• Field Performance Drivers – utilize market data to monitor FF productivity; identify root cause of any performance issues and highlight areas of opportunity.
• Address ad hoc portfolio issues by connecting with the Integrated Insights Teams, Enterprise Analytics and other partners to create fact-based, aligned summaries and recommendations.

Minimum Requirements

What will you bring to the role ?
• Bachelor's degree in related field is required; Master of Science and/or MBA preferred
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Analytics and Insights focused roles supporting Commercial/Sales/Brand/Product organizations
• Direct people management experience in Analytics & Insights organization required
• Therapeutic Launch experience within an Insights and Analytics organization is required
• Deep experience in consumer insights, including an application of behavioral and psychological research methodologies.
• Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and team orientation
• Therapeutic area experience preferred.
• Proven teamwork, collaboration, and people management skills
• Works effectively across functions as a team player to seamlessly help to achieve common goals without hierarchy, politics, or self-interest
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, multifunctional team environment
• Strong organization skills, detail oriented and customer focused
