The ideal location for this role is our East Hanover site but remote work may be possible (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. If associate is remote, all home office expenses and any travel/lodging to specific East Hanover site for periodic live meetings will be at the employee’s expense. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager. This position may require up to 20% travel. This is a US based position. No international relocation will be provided for this position.

Then come and join our US Innovative Medicines organization in this newly created role of Executive Director, Data Insights and Analytics Capabilities.

The purpose of this role is to elevate the total fitness and power of the DIA (Data Insights Analytics) team across Pharmaceuticals and Oncology by identifying the best and next insights practices. This person is passionate about discovering, piloting and scaling the most effective current and emerging approaches for discovering human truths.

The Executive Director, DIA Capabilities will work across the DIA organization to elevate our impact, developing actionable solutions, research frameworks and guiding the training and development plan for effective implementation. Further, this role supports the VP, DIA by working across the team to articulate DIA strategy and plans, and coordinates budgets and priorities for the DIA team.

This Executive Director is a passionate builder of solutions and capabilities, and acts as a “Strength Coach” for the organization. This role actively assesses the DIA team’s strengths and opportunities, and delivers an agenda for improvement. As a “Strength Coach”, this role works closely with the DIA organization to challenge and support the teams in building new skills, implementing new approaches, and generating highly impactful behavioral insights. This person will also work closely with cross-functional leaders to understand their business context and opportunities, ensuring that new DIA Capabilities meet the current and future needs of the business. The role will also develop productive relationships with external thought leaders to identify and apply new approaches.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Foster solutions-oriented thinking by building a culture of performance, accountability, simplicity, empowerment, external orientation, and curiosity.
• Lead two Behavioral Scientists to identify, develop and deploy a behavioral research framework .

• Participate with team members in their respective Integrated Marketing Strategic Team (IMST) forums to ensure strong cross-functional/divisional alignment and collaboration to deliver results.
• Work with VP, DIA and other DIA leaders to develop and align on priorities for identifying and implementing new research methodologies and tools.

• Establish the “Novartis Way” of foundational research and analytic approaches, tools and solutions, creating a high level of consistency, reliability and repeatability of DIA across Pharma and Oncology.
• Identify specific existing insights best practices that can create value across teams. Define the value proposition, develop “how to” playbooks, and deploy shared best practices across the Integrated Insights teams.
• Drive a prioritized agenda across DIA for identifying key skill/tool development areas and lead an ongoing “outside-in” forum to bring new ideas and methods to the DIA team.
• Identify and implement behavioral research methods that enable the team to identify, study, and determine drivers of desired/undesired consumer behaviors in key situations/contexts which impact Novartis’ products and services.
• Establishes a value-driven protocol for small-scale experimentation, execution of pilot/proof-of-concept studies, and scaled roll-out of proven methodologies.
• Develop a knowledge-sharing capability which provides access to best practice examples, re-search playbooks, relevant use cases, and past research studies.
• Develop productive external partnerships among thought leaders in order to continue to ad-vance Novartis’ capabilities by being at the leading edge of advanced research methods.

Minimum Requirements

What will you bring to the role ?
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Analytics and Insights focused roles supporting Marketing/Commercial/Sales/Brand or Product organizations
• Ability to translate the business needs into capability building needs and learning solutions.
• Experience assessing current and target capabilities for a target audience, and designing and delivering capability-building programs for various levels of capabilities and experience
• Experience of designing and developing capability building innovation and/or learning programs.
• Ability to navigate in complex matrixed organization.
• Strategic experience alongside operationally leading learning models and processes.
• Advanced project management experience with sophisticated planning, problem solving and organization development skills, demonstrated by a record of successful major project and process management transformations.
• Advanced change management skills with proven success in previous change programs
• Culture of continuous improvement
