We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist who can join our Cell Pharmacology team to work at the bench and, over time, lead exploratory efforts (target discovery and validation) as well as drug development projects that contribute to the science and treatment of Cardiovascular and Metabolic disease.

In this role, you will:

•Generate data at the bench, as well as analyze and communicate the results to the larger drug discovery and development team in which you will work. The project(s) will be in the field of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases and range from target concept to IND-enabling studies.
•Focus on applying cell biological methods. Pursue an interest in, and an aptitude for, molecular biological and biochemical methods and study the effects of low molecular weight drugs, peptides, antibodies, especially siRNA.
•Lead project teams and productively collaborate across the Novartis research organization in the many disciplines required for drug development (medicinal chemistry, biologics development, safety, etc.) as well as recognize and leverage external collaboration opportunities that amplify the Department’s research.
•Develop expertise in the any of the fields of heart failure, atherosclerosis, arrhythmia, or metabolic disease.
•Learn from other members in the Department, and mentor other less experienced bench scientists.
•Successfully contribute to, and eventually lead, high-functioning research teams.
