The Director Competitive Readiness is responsible for providing Competitive Intelligence (CI) and Readiness leadership rooted in deep understanding of the external competitive environment and our internal product/ portfolio strategies, with a focus on products. This individual will partner with key business stakeholders across every function that impacts our patients, providers and healthcare systems to develop deep forward-looking competitive intelligence, scenario planning and tactical planning to ensure our product/ portfolio teams are in a constant state of readiness in anticipating and acting on external macro-environmental market changes, competitor new launches and other competitor strategies.

The Director Competitive Readiness will be responsible for appropriately benchmarking competitor performance, business models and capabilities to develop insights and recommendations that will help enhance product/ portfolio strategy and improve readiness execution across functions like marketing, sales, market access, PSS, medical, account management. This leader proactively facilitates the identification and prioritization of intelligence efforts critical to strategic planning and execution for key stakeholders and provides direction for the design and refinement of intelligence plans. The individual performs these functions independently and at a high level of achievement.

This leader is a proactive custodian for consistent competitive readiness excellence and looks to continuously improve on our business readiness across functions.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Develop effective business and competitive intelligence for the product/ portfolio across relevant functions to provide unbiased and fact-based competitive insights, benchmarking, and recommendations regarding commercialization strategies, cross-functional strategies and resource prioritization
• Lead team analysis and/or independently perform strategic assessments of select competitor activities, including (but not limited to): market situation analysis, strategic forecasting, strategic and operational benchmarking and articulation of implications in a legal and compliant manner.
• Appropriately, monitor and benchmark strategic plans and key developments of competitors to pro-vide early warning for potential threats and opportunities for successful implementation to prioritized strategic initiatives and tactical plans.
• Provide guidance and lead efforts for the creation of effective intelligence programs (including annual budget planning etc.) in support of key stakeholders involved in integrated product strategy.
• Proactive surveillance of relevant product areas in healthcare environment issues including policy, regulatory, health technology to identify key issues relevant to strategic planning initiatives in the US.
• Demonstrate leadership in developing and connecting a local-global network of subject matter experts across our portfolio to share intelligence and to support strategic activities of key stakeholders (e.g. for competitive planning etc.)
• Drive the design and execution of competitive planning initiatives (competitive simulations) for key products subject to significant competitive events.
• Ensure the effective implementation and integrity of all competitive and business intelligence activities such as primary research, and other appropriate intelligence gathering and analysis projects through timely and appropriate coordination with stakeholders, and external vendors.

The ideal location for this role is at the East Hanover site but remote work may be possible (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. If associate is remote, all home office expenses and any travel/lodging to the East Hanover site for periodic live meetings will be at the employee’s expense. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager. This position will require 20% travel.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
Education: Bachelor's Degree is required in relevant area, MBA or Health Policy Degree preferred

Required Experience:
• 8+ years in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or healthcare consulting industry inclusive of at least 2 different types of cross-functional roles/experience
• US Market experience with launch and product lifecycle stages experience, OR, General Manager experience in other countries

Preferred Criteria:
• Therapeutic Area experience
• 2+ years within a significant consultancy group (e.g. McKinsey, BCG, Bain)
