As a metabolomics expert in the Translational Profiling group within the Chemical Biology and Therapeutics department of NIBR, you will have the opportunity to use your knowledge in this fascinating field between chemistry and biology in the development of innovative medicines to improve lives of patients.

The Translational Profiling group is a global team of proteomics, metabolomics, imaging and data science experts, located on our Basel, Switzerland and Cambridge USA sites. As a Senior Principal Scientist, you will lead a team of experts in Basel and play a leading role in maintaining our technologies at the cutting edge and developing our global strategy in the metabolomics field.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Lead, oversee and/or participate in high impact metabolomics projects as part of drug discovery programs ranging from early research to the translation to patients.
• Provide matrix leadership to a team of experts in analytics and mass spectrometry
• Initiate, lead and contribute to interdisciplinary research programs in a highly collaborative and matrixed manner across internal groups and with external partners.
• Maintain a state-of-the art metabolomics technology platform by keeping up-to-date with external technology developments and internal project requirements and priorities
• Champion innovative technology and cross-disciplinary initiatives for biomedical research
• Coaching and mentoring of junior scientists

Minimum Requirements

What you will bring to the role

• PhD in (bio-)chemistry, analytical sciences, or a related discipline with 5 years of postdoctoral experience in biomedical or pharmaceutical research, ideally in an industry setting
• Experience in leading research teams
• Extensive knowledge of and experience with metabolomics approaches and technologies applied in biomedical and translational research
• Strong publication record with significant contributions in the metabolomics field
• Good understanding of data analysis and biostatistics techniques
• A collaborative, innovative mindset and ability to adapt quickly to dynamic, fast paced multi-disciplinary research environment.
• Demonstrated communication and presentation skills with multidisciplinary audiences across different seniority levels

Desirable:
• Experience in translational research
• Experience with multi-omics data integration and knowledge of advanced data science approaches and coding.
