Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist candidate to join our Biochemistry group. Our team is dedicated to the creation and development of innovative medicines to change this alarming statistic. We conceive, develop, validate and employ biochemical and cell biology tools to evaluate to develop new therapeutics against a range of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
•Plan and perform biochemical, biophysical, and cell-based assays to support target validation, mechanism-of-action, and drug discovery projects.
•Development, validation and optimization of molecular endpoint bioassays.
•Generating assay data using a variety of methodologies, (PCR, qPCR, plate-based assays, enzymatic readouts, FACS, quantitative imaging etc.).
•Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab, read and apply relevant scientific literature for problem solving.
•Conduct data analysis and documentation of experiments.
•Active participation in target identification and validation.
•Present results in lab and department meetings.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
•BS/MS degree in biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, bioengineering, bioinformatics, or other life science discipline.
•2+ years of industry or academic experience
•Knowledge of biochemical and cell-based assays. Ideally, experience in molecular and cell biology techniques.
•Experience in downstream bioassays including one or more of the following: qPCR, ELISA/Western Blot, FACS, molecular imaging and plate-based assays.
•Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques is a plus.
•Basic computational data analysis skills.
•Self-motivated and an excellent team player, who demonstrates good communication skills and creative problem-solving capabilities, and enjoys working in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
•Ability to multitask and prioritize.
•Strong written, oral and record keeping skills.
•Experience in metabolic diseases or adipocyte biology is a plus.
