This division is the innovation engine of Novartis, focusing on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. The Pre-Clinical Safety (PCS) group in NIBR provides world class preclinical safety profiling and assessment for optimal drug discovery, development and commercialization, with state-of-the-art regulatory compliance.

We are seeking a scientist to join the PCS Biomarker group in Translational Medicine. In this role, you would be supporting complex modality safety across a broad mix of therapeutic areas. You will support laboratory investigations of project and platform specific issues through design, execution, and interpretation of experimental work.

What you’ll be doing:
•Work with senior scientific staff to execute analytical aspects of study protocols, such as: laboratory analyses (i.e., specialized biomarker assays; e.g., single- and multi-plex ELISAs, bead-based immunoassays, and quantitative PCR), data reporting, and interpretation for preclinical drug safety studies. Recognizing analytical and experimental design challenges and actively providing insight into solutions.
•Perform data analysis, statistics, data quality testing and result verification, and graphical representation of data for reports and presentations.
•Based on experimental results, provide input to internal and external publications including writing relevant sections of study protocols and reports. Communicate results and conclusions to project meetings.
Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
•Design and execute experiments and identify next steps based on analysis of own data and data from other lab contributors. Interpret and communicate results.
•Serve as team member on activities to support project teams and collaborate with research scientists across Novartis global platform and disease areas.
•Assist in method development and validation of new methodologies and instrumentation.
•Assist in the preparation of protocols and reports and participate in data science activities.

Minimum Requirements

What you will bring to the role:

•BS and/or MS degree in biochemistry, toxicology and or biology. Those with backgrounds in molecular biology, immunology, or pre-clinical/clinical research are especially encouraged to apply.
•3+ years of experience in an academic, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical laboratory.
•Experience with immunoassays and general laboratory procedures.
•Strong interpersonal, team-oriented, and time management skills.
•Highly efficient, self-motivated, and flexible; able to work collaboratively on several projects simultaneously, while meeting timelines.
•Computer skills in Office software; experience with spreadsheet analysis of data and of graphing and visualization software (i.e., GraphPad, Spotfire).
Preferred:
•Experience with multi-plex immunoassays, assay performance qualification, qPCR procedure development and optimization.
•Familiarity with electronic lab notebook (eLN) and data base systems.
•Familiarity with health authority regulations and compliance.
