The Antibody and Bioconjugates Discovery group at NIBR/NBC-San Diego is seeking an antibody expert to lead a powerful hybridoma platform for discovery of monoclonal antibodies. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative group of protein scientists and drug hunters devoted to discovering novel biotherapeutics to impact a wide range of human diseases.

Your responsibilities:
• Oversight of all activities required for hybridoma generation and primary screening
• Leading a team of scientists to support core hybridoma activities
• Coordinating with screening and automation groups to execute antibody discovery workflows
• Discovery and implementation of improved methods and technologies for antibody discovery via immunization
• Maintain knowledge of internal and external advances in the areas of expertise
• Communicate effectively with diverse project teams and other core groups within NIBR to effectively advance projects

Minimum Requirements

What you will bring to the role:
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject such as immunology, molecular biology or biochemistry
• 10+ years of direct industry experience in antibody discovery (OR Master’s with 8+ years of industry experience in antibody discover OR PhD with one year of Post-Doc/industry experience in antibody discover)
• Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in hybridoma technology including immunogen design, immunization protocols, antibody screening, cell culture, antibody purification and characterization
• Ability to synthesize project information into experimental designs and communicate effectively with diverse project teams
• Creativity, problem-solving ability, and a history of accountability to quality outputs

Highly desirable:
• Extensive expertise in immunoassay and flow cytometry screening, particularly in high throughput FACS techniques
• Knowledge in assay development, molecular and cellular immunology, mammalian cell culture, monoclonal antibody development
• Previous supervisory experience
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment
