The Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Principal Scientist to lead a drug discovery biology team within NIBR La Jolla’s Regenerative Medicine research group. We are dedicated to innovating the next generation of regenerative therapies.

As a leader of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, you will lead the design and execution of in vivo and ex vivo studies enabling the validation and development of innovative therapeutic platforms for regenerative medicine. This exciting role will interface with experts throughout the company in regenerative biology.

Your responsibilities:
· Develop comprehensive understanding of disease pathophysiology and key regenerative processes by leveraging cutting-edge technologies and platforms
· Foster collaborative interactions with colleagues in fundamental biology, assay development, phenotypic screening, engineering, data science, gene therapy and translational research
· You will manage a team of associates with relevant, diverse expertise, as well as interact with peer teams

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
· Ph.D. with 3 to 6 years’ experience with in vivo biology and disease models, with supporting publication record
· In-depth of knowledge primary and/or iPS cell culture
· Knowledge of respiratory or neuroscience models is preferred but not required
· The candidate will have a demonstrable record of accomplishment of driving research projects, including the ability to work in a collaborative environment
· Ability and willingness to learn and cross into new fields of research, expanding one’s comfort zone
· Will possess excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to thrive in a dynamic matrix research environment.
· Creative problem-solving skills; excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.
