This opportunity is located at the Novartis (NIBR) Cambridge, MA site, and will not have the ability to be located remotely.

The Digital Innovation and Analytics group in NIBR Scientific Operations supports a diverse group of functions directly supporting the scientific research community. Spanning across coordinating and conducting invivo research, ensuring scientists are supplied with critical consumables, chemicals and managing compliance to controlled substances and other sensitive materials. The goal and mission of our team is to lead and enable thee digital transformation across these spaces with deep data insights and innovative solutions.

You will be collaborating with these functions and the research community to uncover opportunities to increase the connectivity of our systems and data, discover data-driven recommendations to improve the quality and efficacy of our services, and create novel and creative solutions to impact the speed and quality of our drug discovery mission. While the current digital portfolio is strong and robust, there are always opportunities to identify and deliver innovation to support our scientists in a better way!

What you will be responsible for?
• Build deep understanding of SciOps functional areas and relevant scientific community operations to meaningfully translate customer needs into scalable and deployable solutions
• Build understanding of the scientific research portfolio process and downstream relationship with SciOps functions and discover effects of how the evolving research portfolio impacts SciOps functions
• Engage with global and cross-functional colleagues to uncover opportunities to transform data into actionable insights and analytics
• Architect highly-scalable, distributed enterprise data solutions with focus on big data platforms and enterprise data lake for reporting & analytics, and particular focus on Cloud-based data platforms
• Develop and implement ETL solutions across internal and external solutions landscape
• Engineer and implement novel solutions to address broad spectrum of operational use cases
• Lead Data Science innovation across Functional Area data sets and collaborate with DIA team members and domain experts to enable proactive, prescriptive, and cross-functional insights

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Generally curious person with interest in exploring and building a deep understanding of the SciOps functions and NIBR R&D process beyond individual project work
• Expertise in Data Science and discovering opportunities in large scale cross-functional data sets
• Expertise in Full Stack data-focused solutions development
• Applied and demonstrated experience in:
o Complex data transformations using SQL, Apache Spark, and Python
o Data storage solutions (Oracle, SQL Server, pgSQL, Redshift, S3, etc.)
o Implementing ETL solutions
o Engaging with and creating API frameworks (SOAP, REST)
o Implementing and maintaining workloads using Linux, Windows Server, Powershell, Terraform
o Operating in cloud environments and technologies, primarily AWS
• Desired expertise or interest in:
o Machine Learning
o Object Detection
o IoT
o Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics
o Statistical Modeling
• 5+ years in technical data focused role
