Do you want to join a leading microbial biotechnology research team within Novartis?
We are a group with a wide range of expertise and many references in the development and improvement of industrial microbial bioprocesses.

Your key responsibilities:
• Evaluation and implementation of state-of-the-art analytical methodology and technology (mass spectrometry, HPLC, spectrophotometry, kinetic studies, etc.).
• Reproduction and optimization of existing and development of new analytical methods and performance of exploratory analyses.
• Processing, reporting and presentation of analytical results with an active role in the interpretation of results.
• Implementing cost-effective and productive analytical processes, ensuring quality and standardisation of analyses.
• Improving efficiency and work optimization (automation, high sample throughput). Independent search and understanding of the literature in the field.
• Cooperation with external research and development organisations.
• Self-initiated knowledge sharing within research groups. Developing and disseminating knowledge and experience in your area of responsibility.
• Stewardship of the area for which you will be responsible and advocacy at (health authority) inspections.

Minimum Requirements

What you will bring to the role:
• University degrees (BSc or MSc) from chemistry, biologics, pharma or any other appropriate natural sciences.
• Preference will be given to candidates with work experience in mass spectrometry with an understanding of the operation and composition of analytical instruments (spectrophotometry, chromatography, LC-MS) with basic technical skills in working with chromatographic instruments.
• Candidates with a broad knowledge of biochemical processes (chemistry/enzymatics of metabolism) and knowledge of the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites are preferred.
• Knowledge of databases, spectroscopic models, statistical treatments is desirable.
• Fluent in English.
