What you will be doing in this role:

•Conduct innovative research in AMD pathogenic mechanism leading to target identification and drug discovery project
•Apply cell-based assays to support the discovery, validation and characterization of novel AMD therapies and handling/processing of ex-vivo tissues for pharmacodynamics/biomarker assessments
•Independently design and perform experiments, troubleshoots issues, , evaluate, interpret, and present data at internal and external forums
•Stay current on the literature, and on new methodological and technological advances
•Collaborate with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams on target discovery and drug development projects. Potentially represent and/or lead drug discovery projects

Minimum Requirements

What you'll bring to the role:

•PhD in Biology or related field with 4+ years of full time academic or industry laboratory experience, or MS with 6+ years. The level of the position will be commensurate with experience.
•Training in ophthalmology, ocular science, neuroscience, immunology, cell biology or related fields.
•Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of molecular/ protein/ cellular assays and analysis (such as ELISA, Western blotting, qPCR, and fluorescent microscopy imaging)
•Hands-on experience in culturing primary cells or ESC/iPSC-derived cells, and metabolic assays expertise would be a plus
•Familiarity with molecular biology, CRISPR technology, AAV/lentivirus
•Highly motivated and problem-solver with a demonstrated ability to adapt quickly and work independently. Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced matrix research environment
•Demonstrated strong communication skills, excellent record keeping, independence and attention to details
