The Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) Immuno-Oncology & Hematology (IOH) department is seeking a talented, highly motivated in vivo scientist to join our Cell and Gene Therapy group. The successful candidate will work with multi-disciplinary teams and play a key role in advancing IOH drug discovery projects as well as identifying novel therapeutic targets and approaches to benefit cancer patients with a focus on adoptive T cell therapies.

The successful candidate is expected to perform and excel in the following areas:

•Participate in the design and implementation of in vivo biology studies including subcutaneous and orthotopic cancer models to evaluate cellular therapy strategies, including efficacy, PK, PD and mechanism of action analyses.
•Perform ex vivo assays including immunology-based analysis and pharmaco-dynamic studies tailored to the therapy and target of interest, with an emphasis on flow cytometry analysis of tumor and other tissue samples.
•Document, analyze, and interpret experiments in a timely manner to inform project strategy and next steps.
•Present results within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Minimum Requirements

What you'll bring to the role:

•B.A./B.S or M.S. in Pharmacology, Cell Biology or related field with 2+ years of industry or academic experience. The level of the position will be commensurate with experience.
•Proficiency with in vivo procedures in rodents, including multiple routes of dose administration (IP, PO, IV, SC), blood collection, dissection techniques, and necropsies
•Experience with xenografts and syngeneic models, in vivo assays for pharmacokinetic evaluations, flow analysis, and cell culture is preferred
•Knowledge of cancer biology, cell signaling and/or immunology is preferred
•Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and perform in new areas, implement new techniques and instrumentation, critical problem-solving, multi-tasking, and good organizational skills
•Meticulous laboratory approach, careful adherence to protocols and excellent lab notebook documentation
•Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
•Strong analytical and computer skills
•Highly motivated, with a sense of urgency and flexibility
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
