Job Description

85% of the proteome is currently undrugged. Join our effort to tackle a longstanding challenge in early drug discovery by identifying covalent small molecules that modulate the activity of these so far undrugged targets and pathways to positively impact human health.

In expansion of our global effort in covalent drug discovery, we are currently looking for a Principal Scientist to drive chemoproteomic efforts at our San Diego site.

Your responsibilities:

The successful candidate will utilize covalent probes to capture protein-ligand interactions and develop novel mass spectrometry-based chemoproteomic strategies to enable covalent library screening as well as rapid follow-up of screening hits using a variety of primarily mass spectrometry-based approaches.

As a member of highly multidisciplinary project teams focusing on early-stage drug discovery and covalency-enabled exploration of new modalities, the position offers considerable opportunities to branch out into other areas of drug discovery including probe design and target validation in vitro and in cells.

Minimum Requirements

What you will bring to the role:
-Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biological Science with at least 5 years of post-graduate research experience.
-The ideal candidate would have a background in mass spectrometry-based proteomics and chemical biology as well as experience in identification of target/ligand pairs in cells.
-Extensive hands-on experience with nanoLC-MS/MS instrumentation, quantitative proteomics approaches (e.g. TMT, label-free) and data analysis is required.
-The individual should be a natural collaborator with strong communication skills and experience contributing to multidisciplinary teams, as well as the ability to be a self-starter and thrive in a multitasking environment.

Preferred:
-Molecular biology skills would be beneficial.
-Practical knowledge in biochemistry and the application of affinity- and activity-based chemical probes for cellular enrichment studies is desired.
